Evaluation of biological wastewater treatment in stabilization lagoons from Punta Carnero, Salinas – Ecuador

This research evaluated the wastewater treatment system of Punta Carnero sector, in relation to pollutant efficiency load removal, final effluent quality and impact on ecosystem, finally determine if discharge can be reused for agricultural irrigation. The was based affluent characterization system, carried out three phases: i) Taking simple samples, analyzed an accredited water laboratory analysis contaminant loads efficiency; ii) Review results compared Table “Discharge limits a freshwater receiving body”; iii) Examination “Water Quality Criteria Agricultural Irrigation” Ecuadorian regulation TULSMA (2015). BOD (62.42%), COD (62.41%) FC (53.58%) removal efficiencies did not comply with current regulations. respect parameters discharges body denoted non-optimal discharge, negatively impacting ecosystem. Finally, evaluation determined that exceed criteria irrigation allowed: Oils-Fats (5.65 mg/l), (62,900 NMP/100ml), Hg (0.00141 OD (8.86 mg/l). After evaluating it is optimal into body, so it’s suitable reuse irrigation.
